HC Deb 04 July 1933 vol 280 cc142-3
2. Captain WATT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he is in a position to state whether or not a review for the London divisions of the Territorial Army will be held during 1934?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Duff Cooper)

No, Sir. I am not in a position to say.

Captain WATT

Has my hon. Friend any idea when he will be in a position to make an announcement?

Mr. COOPER

I am afraid it will not be for some time.

Captain WATT

Is my hon. Friend aware of the importance of the review from the recruiting point of view, and will he bear in mind the desirability of making some announcement at an early date

Mr. COOPER

I am fully aware of the importance of it, and an announcement will be made as soon as possible.

Captain PETER MACDONALD

Is my hon. Friend aware of the great disappointment that was caused by the abandonment of the review, and does he not think that there might be some expression of appreciation of the efforts made by those who turned up?

Mr. COOPER

The Army Council are fully aware of the great disappointment which was felt, and which they share.
