HC Deb 27 February 1933 vol 275 c2
8. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the Government of India will consider the advisability of appointing an Indian to the position of secretary to the railway board in India; and what is the present number of Indian members of the board?

Mr. BUTLER

The appointment of Secretary to the Railway Board is a matter within the discretion of the Government of India. Of the three members of the Railway Board one is at present an Indian.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Does not the hon. Member think it is worth while making representations to the Government of India on this subject?

Mr. BUTLER

In the original answer I have said that this matter is within their discretion.
