§ 10. Mr. PICKERINGasked the Minister of Labour what number of British workers are now employed in the factories recently opened in Great Britain by foreign firms?
§ Sir H. BETTERTONThe number of workpeople employed in factories established by or with the assistance of foreign firms since September, 1931, was about 9,700 at January, 1933.
§ Mr. PICKERINGIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that one of these factories in Buckinghamshire employing several hundred people has closed down, and, as the figures which he has given represents only .003 of the total of unemployed, does he think that these factories are contributing very much to the solution of unemployment?
§ Sir H. BETTERTONThat is a matter of argument.
