HC Deb 11 December 1933 vol 284 c11
14. Mr. JAMES DUNCAN

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of the difficulties that exist for British residents in Chile to obtain reliable British news; and will he see that a regular daily news service is established for publication in the Chilean Press?

Sir J. SIMON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second part, the British official wireless service, addressed to all stations, is transmitted daily in the Morse code, and makes available to most parts of the world a regular supply of British news. Owing to technical and other difficulties, this service is not at present intercepted in Chile, but proposals for overcoming them are under consideration.
