§ 12. Sir ROBERT HAMILTONasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether a British representative has yet been appointed as a member of the permanent advisory committee of experts on slavery; and can he announce the name and qualifications of this gentleman?
§ Sir J. SIMONThe Permanent Advisory Committee on Slavery is a committee of experts and not of representatives of Governments. The Committee does, however, include a British member in the person of Sir George Maxwell, K.B.E., C.M.G., late Chief Secretary to the Government, Federated Malay States, whose wide experience of colonial affairs makes him a very suitable choice.
§ Sir R. HAMILTONWill this information be placed at the disposal of the British member in order to help him in dealing with this matter?
§ Sir J. SIMONInformation, as far as we can supply it, will be at the disposal of the International Committee, and I imagine will be available to the British member.
