asked the Minister of Labour the number of persons in receipt of unemployment benefit whose benefit ceased owing to their reaching 65 years of age during the years 1930, 1931 and 1932?

I regret that statistics giving the information desired are not available.

Mr. BATEY

Has the Department not to keep these figures? When a person receiving benefit reaches 65 is he not told by the Department that his payments stop?

Sir H. BETTERTON

No, neither this Government nor the last has kept those statistics. Therefore, I cannot give them to the hon. Gentleman.
