§ 43. Mr. TURTONasked the Minister of Health how many county and district councils have protested to him against the expenditure entailed by the quinquennial valuation under the Rating and Valuation Act, 1925; and whether he will introduce legislation to postpone the valuation that is due in 1934 to some later date?
§ Mr. SHAKESPEAREMy right hon. Friend has received resolutions from 234 local authorities suggesting that the intervals between revaluations should be extended from five years to 10 years, and he has asked the Central Valuation Committee to furnish him in due course with their views on the suggestion. The preparation of the second valuation lists under the Rating and Valuation Act, 1925, is already in hand, and it has been completed in some areas, where the new lists have been in operation since the first of this month. My right hon. Friend does not, therefore, propose to introduce legislation such as is suggested by my hon. Friend.
