asked the President of the Board of Trade the latest available index figures for wholesale and retail prices, respectively, in the case of beef, mutton, pork and bacon; and whether the disparity between wholesale and retail prices of these commodities has increased or decreased since 1924

As the answer contains a table of figures, I will circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following are the figures:

The following table shows (A) the index numbers of wholesale prices of certain descriptions of beef, mutton, lamb, pork and bacon for the month of September, 1932, based on the average wholesale prices for the year 1924, and (B) the average of the index numbers of retail prices at 1st September and 1st October, 1932, based on the average of the prices at the beginning of each month of 1924, of the different descriptions of beef, mutton and bacon which are included by the Ministry of Labour in

(A) Wholesale Prices. (B) Retail Prices.
Commodities. Index Number for September, 1932, based on average wholesale prices as recorded for the Board of Trade Index Number. Commodities Index Numbers for average of 1st September and 1st October, 1932, based on the date recorded in the Ministry of Labour Gazette.
