HC Deb 25 October 1932 vol 269 cc821-2
68. Mr. HUTCHISON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many civil servants are in receipt of pensions for previous Government service in addition to their present salaries?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

This information could only be accurately compiled with a considerable amount of labour and expense. Section 20 of the Superannuation Act, 1834, however, provides that a Civil Service pensioner, who is reemployed in an office in a public Department, shall draw only so much, if any, of his pension as with his new salary is equal to the salary of his former office.
