HC Deb 25 October 1932 vol 269 cc809-10
39. Mr. RHYS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the Wheat Commission contemplate making any advance payments to wheat growers under the Wheat Act; and, if so, when such payments will commence?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Major Elliot)

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave yesterday to a question on this subject by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Chelmsford (Sir V. Henderson), of which I am sending him a copy.

40. Mr. CONANT

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that farmers in certain districts find difficulty in obtaining certificates for their wheat owing to the small number of merchants authorised to issue certificates; and whether he will bring this fact to the notice of the Wheat Commission?

Major ELLIOT

I was not aware that farmers were experiencing difficulty in obtaining wheat certificates, but if my hon. Friend will furnish me with particulars of any cases where difficulties exist I will certainly see that the facts are brought to the notice of the Wheat Commission.
