HC Deb 24 November 1932 vol 272 cc227-8
27. Sir KENYON VAUGHANMORGAN

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that a pro forma balance sheet and a pro forma statement showing the liabilities and assets and the application of the revenue of the London Passenger Transport Board, in accordance with the terms of the Bill, were handed in to the Select Committee on the London Passenger Transport Bill; and whether he will issue, for the information of the House, a revised pro forma balance sheet and statement to show the effect of the settlements with various interests which have been made since such balance sheet and statement were presented to the Select Committee on the Bill, and also the effect of the fall in traffic receipts?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT (Lieut.-Colonel Headlam)

I do not think that any useful purpose could be served by attempting to draw up statements based on the traffic receipts of the various undertakings during the recent period of exceptional depression. It is proposed, however, to issue as soon as possible a statement showing the effects upon the pro forma statements presented to the Joint Select Committee of the settlements reached since they were prepared.

Sir K. VAUGHAN-MORGAN

Will that information be available for consideration by the Members of the House prior to the Committee stage of the Bill being proceeded with?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

I hope that the statement will be available by Monday, certainly before the Clauses come up for consideration in Committee.
