HC Deb 10 November 1932 vol 270 cc495-6
38. Mr. GLOSSOP

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that delay is being caused in the provision of a water supply for the urban district of Crowle and the rural district of the Isle of Axholme owing to the lack of co-operation between these two local authorities, and that this locality can be more suitably treated as one water area; and whether he will take steps to bring these two authorities together in view of the need for an adequate supply of water for the parishes west of the River Trent?

Sir H. YOUNG

So far as I am aware the delay in the provision of a scheme in these areas is due not to lack of cooperation between the two councils, but to the difficulty of the problem. Loans have been sanctioned to the Crowle council for the sinking of a test borehole, but, so far, water of suitable quality has not been found, and the council are now awaiting a further report from the expert. I am keeping in close touch with the situation.
