HC Deb 30 May 1932 vol 266 cc816-7
25. Sir A. KNOX

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the practice of recalling a member of the Chinese consular service for a short period of duty at the Foreign Office is still being followed; and, if not, when was this practice discontinued and for what reason?

Mr. EDEN

The practice referred to by my hon. and gallant Friend is still being followed.

Sir A. KNOX

Is it not a fact that the present representative of the service has been there for eight years and that previously no officer was there more than a year or a year and a half?

Mr. EDEN

I am afraid I must have notice of that question.
