HC Deb 24 May 1932 vol 266 c173
19. Mr. BATEY

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps the Government propose to take in regard to the hours and wages in the coal industry?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I hope to be in a position to make a statement within the next few days.

Mr. BATEY

If a question is put down on Monday next, will the Minister be able to make a statement then?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

If the hon. Member puts down a question for Thursday, I hope to be able to give a reply then.

Mr. GODFREY NICHOLSON

Can the right hon. Gentleman give any indication of when the Bill will be brought in?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

No, I am afraid I cannot anticipate the statement which will be made on Thursday.
