HC Deb 13 May 1932 vol 265 cc2310-1
3. Mr. CHURCHILL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government have any information as to the attitude of the United States to a money conference with the object of arresting the fall in world prices provided that the question of war debts is excluded from the agenda.

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

My right hon. Friend will no doubt have seen in the press statements which purport to express the attitude of the United States Government on this matter, but I have received no official confirmation of these statements. I should, however, like to take this opportunity of repeating the welcome given by my right hon. Friend, the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, to any attempt at international collaboration on this most important problem.
