§ Estimates of the number of insured persons in employment are available in respect of one date only towards the end of each month.
§ The following Table gives the figures on this basis for each month since December, 1930. The estimates for July, 1931, and subsequent months are provisional.

§ The figures are obtained by deducting from the estimated total numbers insured the numbers recorded as unemployed, and those directly involved in trade disputes, together with 3½ per cent. of the numbers insured, to allow for persons absent from work through sickness and other forms of unrecorded non-employment other than holidays.
