asked the Home Secretary what was the number of the permanent staff at the Home Office in the year 1913 and the total amount of their salaries; what was the number in 1931 and the total salaries in that year; and if there was any temporary staff employed in either of the two years and, if so, will he state the numbers and the total salaries in the respective years?
