§ The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Major Elliot)Discussions on the matter referred to in the first part of the question will, I hope, shortly be initiated with the staff interests concerned. My hon. Friend may rest assured that consideration of the Royal Commission's recommendations will not be in any way prejudiced by the holding next autumn of the normal open competition for recruitment to the clerical classes.
