HC Deb 10 May 1932 vol 265 c1706
29. Mr. LIDDALL

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will have compiled a list of places showing the facilities for manufacture and the available male and female labour for the benefit of foreign firms requiring that information?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Steps have been taken by a number of organisations who have the requisite local knowledge, including the numerous local development associations and the railway companies, to collate, for the use of persons contemplating the establishment of new undertakings, information regarding manufacturing facilities in the various parts of the country. Accordingly, any Government intervention would merely duplicate these efforts and would not, I think, serve any useful purpose. With regard to the supply of labour, the Ministry of Labour have issued a leaflet on the assistance that the National Employment Exchange Service can render to foreign firms.
