HC Deb 10 May 1932 vol 265 c1718
68. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action has been taken to secure for the forest officers of the Colonial Office six months' training with British timber merchants?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

I have already suggested to the Governments of the Gold Coast and Nigeria that they should each select an officer to undergo training in forest utilisation work. Such training would include periods spent with timber firms in this country, and I understand that such visits would be welcomed by the trade. One officer in the Nigerian Forestry Department has already had special training in work of this kind.
