asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can supply figures giving the quantities and value of silk and artificial silk hosiery and underwear, respectively, imported during each of the weeks ending 16th, 23rd and 30th April, 1932?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Statistics of imports into this country are compiled on a monthly basis only, and I am therefore unable to furnish the information on a weekly basis.

Mr. CAPORN

Cannot the hon. Gentleman give us particulars an the basis of 10-day figures as he did before the Abnormal Importation Duties were introduced?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

No. I very much regret that information on a 10-day basis was specially compiled for the purposes of the Abnormal Importation Duties Act, and we have now reverted to the old practice of compiling the statistics on a monthly basis.
