HC Deb 07 March 1932 vol 262 c1463
23. Major LEIGHTON

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will inform the House of the total number of appeals that have been upheld 'by the appeal tribunal in connection with widows claiming under Article 17B of the 1924 Royal Warrant, and also the total number of pensions that have been awarded by the Ministry under that warrant?

Major TRYON

The records of my Department prior to 1928 do not enable me to distinguish precisely between appeals under Article 17B and other appeals by widows, but during the last three years the number of appeals allowed by the appeal tribunal under that Article was about 1,350, the great majority being cases in which an award under Article 17A had already been made by the Ministry. The total number of awards made under Article I7B is about 6,500.
