HC Deb 27 June 1932 vol 267 cc1467-8
30. Mr. BURNETT

asked the Postmaster-General if he is in a position to state the amount of annual saving which has resulted from the closing of Wood-side, Aberdeen, as a delivery sub-post office in May, 1929?

Sir K. WOOD

The change referred to by my hon. Friend, whilst effecting no actual saving, enabled the Post Office to give a better service by an earlier first delivery in many parts of the area, an earlier delivery of the English night mail, and a third delivery advanced by over one hour.

Mr. BURNETT

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware of the inconvenience caused to business firms in dealing with their London correspondence?

Sir K. WOOD

No, Sir; I do not think that my hon. Friend could have heard my reply.
