HC Deb 27 June 1932 vol 267 c1468
31. Brigadier-General BROWN

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the air mail to Kenya, which is scheduled to take eight days, has for some weeks taken 21 days; what is the cause of the delay; and whether he can take steps to keep this mail up to scheduled time?

Sir K. WOOD

On only four occasions during the last three months was the aeroplane as much as one day late in arriving at Nairobi and this delay has not been exceeded. If my hon. and gallant Friend will let me have particulars of any letter which has suffered greater delay, I will have full inquiry made.

Brigadier-General BROWN

In view of the fact that the aeroplane is late only a few times, why does delivery take 21 days instead of eight so often?

Sir K. WOOD

I am afraid that I cannot accept my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion. If he has a letter, I will examine it and let him know.

Brigadier-General BROWN

May I give the right hon. Gentleman this letter?

Sir K. WOOD

Yes, certainly.
