HC Deb 23 June 1932 vol 267 cc1239-40
3. Mr. DAVID GRENFELL

asked the Minister of Labour what special schemes have been prepared to provide work for unemployed women since 1st January; the number that have been absorbed by the various schemes; and the total cost?

Sir H. BETTERTON

No such special schemes have been prepared, but, as the hon. Member is aware, training schemes for domestic employment exist under the auspices of the Central Committee on Women's Training and Employment.

Mr. GRENFELL

Is the right hon. Gentleman maintaining these schemes in full activity, or has there been a falling off?

Sir H. BETTERTON

I cannot say without notice, but if the hon. Gentleman will put down a question I will give him the particulars.

Mr. LAWSON

Where are the Minister's hon. Friends who used to be so interested in this question?
