HC Deb 23 June 1932 vol 267 cc1246-7
30. Mr. McENTEE

asked the Minister of Health if his attention has been drawn to the report of the school medical officer for Enfield on the increase in the prevalence of enlarged and diseased tonsils among school children suggesting that this may be due to the changed transport system of this country; and whether he will cause an inquiry to be made as to the possibility that the inhaling of petrol and oil fumes is a factor in the increased proportion of throat disease amongst all classes throughout the country?

Sir H. YOUNG

The report in question is under the consideration of the Board of Education at present. I am advised that there is not at present sufficient evidence to justify such an inquiry as is suggested, but I will have the available information on the subject examined with a view to considering whether further investigations are desirable.
