asked the Minister of Agriculture if he has considered the representations of the Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland on the question of prohibition of importation of vegetables from Continental countries in which foot-and-mouth disease is prevalent; and if he is prepared to take any action to deal with this question?

43. Mr. HANNON

asked the Minister of Agriculture what measures he proposes to take with regard to the resolution sent to him by the Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland regarding foot-and-mouth disease and the importation of vegetables from foreign countries?

The resolution referred to has been received, but the position with regard to this matter has not changed since the reply given on 7th December last to a question on the subject by my hon. Friend the Member for Devizes (Sir P. Hurd). The questions raised in the resolution have been dealt with in some detail in a letter which my right hon. Friend has sent to the socety, and a copy of this communication is being sent to my hon. Friends.
