HC Deb 22 June 1932 vol 267 cc1096-7
39. Mr. GUY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is now in a position to state whether the recommendations of the Fleming Committee on the reorganisation of the Register House are to be adopted?

The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Major Sir Archibald Sinclair)

No, Sir. The consultations which have taken place with the legal societies have disclosed divergencies of opinion, but further discussions are proceeding with a view to a decision being reached at the earliest possible date.

Mr. GUY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that if these recommendations were carried out, additional duties would be placed on second-class clerks?

Sir A. SINCLAIR

I have no doubt that is true, and it is one of the considerations which is receiving careful attention at the present time.
