HC Deb 15 June 1932 vol 267 c381
9. Mr. DAGGAR

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that some of the crew of His Majesty's Ship "Petersfield" are still serving on the China station; will he give an assurance that none of these ratings are to be retained on this station for a period which exceeds the normal period of service on such stations; and will he take steps to see that they are sent home as soon as possible?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Sir Bolton Eyres Monsell)

Orders were given for the crew of "Petersfield" (which arrived in China in May, 1930) to be utilised as far as possible to fill vacancies arising in other ships on the station. These ratings will be relieved in the ordinary way on completion of their normal period of foreign service, unless they previously volunteer for further service on the station.
