HC Deb 12 July 1932 vol 268 c1093
11. Mr. MITCHESON

asked the President of the Board of Trade what precautions are taken, in view of the number of cargo boats which have been sold to foreigners or scrapped during the past few years and the few replacements, to ensure that the number of British-owned cargo boats now available for the Admiralty, War Office, and for food requirements would still be sufficient for national needs in case of emergency?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The present position does not give rise to anxiety in this matter, which is always kept under review by His Majesty's Government.
