HC Deb 11 July 1932 vol 268 c888
41. Mr. LIDDALL

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he will during the summer Recess cause the name, with accompanying details of dates of birth and death, to be inscribed on the statue in the Inner Lobby commemorating the late right hon. Joseph Chamberlain?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

After consideration and consultation with the late right hon. Joseph Chamberlain's family, I propose to inscribe the name only on the base of the statue in a manner similar to the inscription on the opposite statue. I do not think it either necessary or desirable to add further details.

Mr. LIDDALL

Is the First Commissioner aware that visitors obtaining a side view of this statue mistake it for a statue of the Prince of Wales?
