HC Deb 04 July 1932 vol 268 c22
48. Captain NORTH

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether, in view of the widespread appreciation of the facilities for bathing in the Serpentine, he will consider the advisability of extending these facilities to Sunday afternoons?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

I am prepared to authorise the opening of the bathing facilities at the Serpentine bathing place between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., as well as before 10 a.m. as at present, for the next four Sundays experimentally. The question of any further continuance of these additional facilities must depend on whether sufficient numbers of the public pay for admission to justify the additional expense for attendants, boatmen, and police.

Captain NORTH

May I thank the right hon. Gentleman?
