HC Deb 15 February 1932 vol 261 c1260
38. Mr. CROSSLEY

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether his attention has been drawn to the decline in the percentage of cotton-piece goods imported from Lancashire into Egypt during the past four years; and whether, taking into consideration the fact that Egypt is largely dependent on the export of raw cotton to Lancashire, he has any steps in view which will be to the mutual advantage of both countries?

Major COLVILLE

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative and the matter formed the subject of investigation by the United Kingdom Trade Mission to Egypt last year. In regard to the second part of the question every effort is being made by the Department of Overseas Trade to increase Anglo-Egyptian trade.
