HC Deb 15 February 1932 vol 261 c1260
69. Mr. J. P. MORRIS

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that certain cotton piece-goods which have been exported abroad to undergo a process are being held up at the home ports because the customs authorities have not yet received instructions as to the amount of duty to be levied on these imported goods; and if he will issue instructions as soon as possible for the guidance of the customs authorities?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Major Elliot)

The officers of Customs and Excise at the ports have standing instructions for dealing with goods returned to this country after process abroad, but, if my hon. Friend will furnish me with particulars of the cases he has in mind, I will communicate with the customs authorities with a view to ascertaining what are the difficulties which have arisen.
