HC Deb 15 February 1932 vol 261 c1257
8. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for India if he will inform the House as to the present situation in regard to the disturbances in Burma?

Sir S. HOARE

I am circulating a statement covering the events of the past week.

Following is the statement:

There is again very little of interest to report. Satisfactory progress continues to be made. One important leader was killed in the Maubin district. No casualties among Government forces have been reported. Twenty-nine under-trial prisoners were released, and the number remaining in custody is 419.

The price of paddy has risen during the week to about 96.

Satisfactory progress continues to be made in collection of taxes.

The number on relief works is about [...]2400.
