HC Deb 15 February 1932 vol 261 cc1253-4
14. Mr. HAMILTON KERR

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that orders for British textile machinery to the value of £277,500 are endangered by the renewed boycott campaign in Ahmedabad Valley; and whether any action is to be taken against the Gujerat Congress Committee, which is taking an active part in promoting this boycott?

Sir S. HOARE

I have no official information, though I have of course seen references to this matter in the Press. I am asking the Government of India for a report on the matter. As regards the second part of the question, the Gujerat Provincial Congress Committee was declared an unlawful association by the Bombay Government on the 5th January.
