§ 24. Mr. BATEYasked the President of the Board of Trade if he has received a report from the University Committee appointed to make an industrial survey 640 in the North of England; and whether any new industries have been established in the distressed mining areas as a result of the survey?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANThe report prepared by Armstrong College on the position on the North-East Coast of England has been received and is wider consideration. One of the objects of the survey was to consider the prospects of early expansion and new development, and it is hoped that the results will be of assistance to the development organisations which are endeavouring to attract new industries to the area in question.
§ Mr. RUNCIMANI am afraid that I must leave that matter to Armstrong College.
§ Mr. BATEYWould it not be possible for the right hon. Gentleman to get permission to publish this report, so that we may see what it is?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANI will gladly communicate with the college, but it is their document.
