HC Deb 04 February 1932 vol 261 cc255-6
65. Viscount ELMLEY

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he can see his way to call a conference between tithe owners and tithe payers?

Sir J. GILMOUR

No, Sir, I do not think that any useful purpose would be served by my calling a conference.

Dr. MORRIS-JONES

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware of the very serious dissatisfaction which exists among tenant farmers and small landholders with regard to this question; and is it not a matter on which it would be desirable to hold a conference in order to try to get some agreement?

Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

Is it not a fact that tenant farmers do not pay tithe?
