HC Deb 04 February 1932 vol 261 cc260-1
80. Captain BALFOUR

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air on how many occasions during 1930 and 1931 aircraft of the Royal Air Force flew in search of or to the aid of civil aircraft of Imperial Airways, Limited, on the Cairo-Karachi route; the cost of such flights carried out; whether any account for the cost has been or will be rendered to Imperial Airways, Limited; and what sum of money, if any, has been received on this account?

Sir P. SASSOON

Only one case of the nature referred to in tike first part of my hon. and gallant Friend's question occurred during the years mentioned. The cost to the Royal Air Force was approximately £62 and a claim for this amount was rendered to, and paid by, Imperial Airways, Limited.

Captain BALFOUR

Can this House have an assurance that all such services rendered to Imperial Airways by the Royal Air Force will be paid for in future?

Sir P. SASSOON

Certainly.
