HC Deb 19 December 1932 vol 273 cc733-4
34. Mr. DICKIE

asked the Minister of Labour the present number of unemployed insured workers in the distributive trades?

Mr. HUDSON

At 21st November, 1932, there were 240,443 insured persons in the distributive trades classification recorded as unemployed in Great Britain.

Mr. DICKIE

Has the Minister any means of ascertaining the extent to which employment in these trades is affected, adversely or otherwise, by what is known as the gift-coupon system of trading?

Mr. HUDSON

No, Sir, I am afraid we have no information at all on that subject.
