HC Deb 19 December 1932 vol 273 cc752-3
38. Mr. G. NICHOLSON (for Mr. MARTIN)

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he has received any recent proposals from either the central council or any of the district executive boards set up under the Mines Act, 1930, for any amendment of Part I of that Act or any of the district schemes set up under the Act?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Mr. Ernest Brown)

As regards the Central Council, the position is as stated in my reply to a question by my hon. Friend on 24th November. I have, however, received representations from the Executive Board for the Midland (Amalgamated) District that powers should be given to them to determine more than one minimum price for any class of coal. I have asked the Central Council for their views on this proposal.

Mr. DICKIE

Has the hon. Gentleman received any direct representations from associations of exporters in any part of the country?

Mr. BROWN

The hon. Member had better put that question down.
