§ 31. Mrs. TATEasked the Postmaster-General the annual amount spent in advertising the telephone service to the public under the title Get a 'phone for 2s. 6d. a week?
§ Sir K. WOODThe amount expended on the telephone advertising campaign this year is approximately £30,000, and 21 has, I believe, had a considerable measure of success and has been generally approved.
§ Mrs. TATEIn view of the fact that it is impossible to get a telephone for 2s. 6d. per week, without a previous deposit, does the Minister think that it is quite right to attempt to deceive the public?
§ Sir K. WOODI cannot expect to satisfy the hon. Member. This is the first complaint that I have received in this connection, although the Postmaster-General has been criticised in many other ways.
