HC Deb 12 December 1932 vol 273 c3
5. Sir A. KNOX

asked the Secretary of State for India on how many occasions has each of the British delegates to the third Round Table Conference attended the discussions?

Mr. BUTLER

My right hon. Friend is unable to supply details in regard to this matter. It is scarcely necessary for me to add that, so far as their other responsibilities have permitted, the British Parliamentary delegates have been most assiduous in their duties as members of the Round Table Conference, both at the actual sessions and otherwise. My right hon. Friend is sure that their services have been appreciated by their colleagues in all sections of the Conference.

Sir A. KNOX

Has not the enforced absence of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs been a great disadvantage to this Conference?

Mr. BUTLER

In my reply to the original question I used the words: "So far as their other responsibilities have permitted."

Sir A. KNOX

But has it not been a great disadvantage to the Conference?
