HC Deb 12 December 1932 vol 273 cc1-2
1. Major-General Sir ALFRED KNOX

asked the Secretary of State for India if he will inquire into the causes of Moslem discontent in the state of Alwar; and, in view of the local demand for an independent inquiry with a British officer as chairman, will he make a statement on the matter?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Butler)

His Highness the Maharaja of Alwar has already announced the appointment of a Commission, presided over by his Revenue Minister, a Moslem, to inquire into the grievances of his Moslem subjects. The situation is engaging the close attention of the Government of India.
