HC Deb 07 December 1932 vol 272 c1602
24. Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the Minister of Transport if he proposes to issue for the guidance of local authorities the information regarding the causes of fatal road accidents obtained from inquiries held during the past three months, under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Act of 1930; and, if not, to whom will the information be submitted in order that the facts disclosed may enable precautions against fatal accidents to be applied?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Pybus)

I would draw my hon. Friend's attention to the reply which I gave on 2nd November to a question by the hon. Member for the Farnham Division (Sir A. M. Samuel), and of which I am sending him a copy. I may add that I have made arrangements, in conjunction with the Home Secretary, for a special investigation during next year of the causes of fatal road accidents. A form of return suitable for mechanical tabulation has been prepared for use by all police forces. A detailed analysis of the in formation thus obtained will be published in due course.
