HC Deb 01 December 1932 vol 272 c970
24. Mr. DORAN

asked the Home Secretary the reasons for the withdrawal of a point-duty policemen at the cross roads in Tottenham; and if he will issue instructions for the replacement of this post?

Mr. STANLEY

My right hon. Friend is informed by the Commissioner of Police that the constable formerly on point duty at the junction of High Road and Philip Lane, Tottenham, was withdrawn in May last as part of a general revision of traffic points throughout the Metropolitan Police District. The presence of the constable was considered to be unnecessary except during the times when children were going to and from schools in the vicinity. In the view of the Commissioner, the traffic conditions at this junction are not such as to justify the reinstatement of this traffic point.
