HC Deb 01 December 1932 vol 272 c983
54. Mr. SMEDLEY CROOKE

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that two ex-service men, who obtained employment in the Post Office stores, Fordrough Lane, Birmingham, through the employment bureau of the British Legion, have been given notice to leave owing to shortness of work, and that two non-service men from Nottingham have been engaged to fill their places; and whether he will have this matter investigated and the ex-service men reinstated?

The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir Ernest Bennett)

I am making inquiries, and will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as possible.

Mr. SMEDLEY CROOKE

In view of the fact that these notices expire tomorrow, will the hon. Gentleman issue instructions withdrawing the notices pending inquiry?

Sir E. BENNETT

The hon. Member asks whether I am aware of certain facts and will investigate them. I will investigate them. I cannot add anything more.
