HC Deb 28 April 1932 vol 265 c572
60. Mr. CHORLTON

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether, in view of the increasing risk of losses being incurred both in trade and remittances with Danubian countries, he has anything yet to report of the measures he is taking to remedy this state of affairs?

Mr. COLVILLE

I have been in further consultation with business interests in regard to the difficulties arising from exchange restrictions imposed not only by the Danubian but by other countries. The views expressed are now being carefully examined to see if there is any action that can be taken to ease the position.

Mr. CHORLTON

Can the hon. Gentleman say when it will be possible to announce definitely that something is going to be done to improve the present position in this respect?

Mr. COLVILLE

I cannot state a definite date, but I can assure my hon. Friend that the Government are aware of the great difficulties of the present position and will do everything possible in the matter.
