§ 51. Mr. TINKERasked the Minister of Transport if he is in a position to give figures of accident cases under Section 36, Sub-section (2), of the Road Traffic Act, 1930, where hospital treatment has been given to injured persons; and what amount of money has been paid by insurance companies to hospitals for such attention?
§ Mr. PYBUSI have considered the possibility of securing the information for which the hon. Gentleman asks, but regret that I do not feel that I could justify the time and labour which such an inquiry would involve.
§ Mr. TINKERIs the Minister of Transport aware that the Act has not given satisfaction in this particular? Some of my constituents want him to do something in regard to it.
§ Sir JOHN HASLAMHas the right hon. Gentleman any reason to doubt the accuracy of the figures I gave him which were provided by the British Medical Association, showing that only 10 per cent. of the money expended by hospitals was recovered from the insurance companies; and will he take steps to see that insurance companies do justice to the hospitals?
§ Mr. PYBUSI have no information to show that insurance companies are evading the provisions of the Act.
