HC Deb 25 April 1932 vol 265 cc37-8
84. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Transport what steps are being taken by his Department to evolve, in conjunction with the various electric power companies, a scheme for the distribution of electricity to individual farms, in view of the rapid development of the grid scheme?

Mr. PYBUS

Powers for the supply of electricity exist in practically all rural districts in the hands of companies or local authorities. Substantial progress is being made in planning mains for schemes of distribution approved by the Electricity Commissioners. The actual construction of the distribution mains must be generally dependent on the possibility of remunerative demand.
